Samuel D. Hawk, Sr.

Samuel David Hawk, Sr., 72, of Waynesburg, Pa., died at 11:14 A. M. on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in his home after a lengthy illness. He was born October 25, 1939 in Greensboro, Pa., a son of the late Harry W. "Bob" and Lillian Louise (Simpson) Hawk. Mr. Hawk was a graduate of Mapletown High School and worked as a licensed practical nurse for 40 years at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg and retired in 2004. He served with the U. S. Army and enjoyed collecting model sail boats. On July 21, 1976, he married Mary L. Carson, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Samuel D. Hawk, Jr. of Mentor, Ohio, Teri Hawk Carson and her husband, Greg, of Waynesburg, Susan Gilmer Binder of Somerset, Pa., Samantha McHenry Babcock and her husband, Brian, of Garner, North Carolina, Bridget Hawk Kushner and her husband, John, of Greensboro, Pa., Keith Hawk of Havelock, N. C., Erin Hawk McCrea and her husband, Jason, of Waynesburg, Elizabeth Hawk Gooden and her husband, Paul of Waynesburg, and Adam Hawk of Altoona, Pa.; a step daughter, Melinda Seibert Cecil of Williamsburg, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Hawk Meese of Greensboro; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Harry Herrod of Waynesburg. Deceased are a daughter, Lillian Hawk, who died in infancy, a grandson, Christopher Hawk and a sister, Shirley Hawk, who died in infancy. Family and friends are welcome from 4 to 6 P.M. on Wednesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Pastor David N. Crowe will officiate. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Greene Community Church, 653 E. High St., Waynesburg, PA 15370.
