Franklin L. Gray

Franklin L. Gray, 75, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 9:50 A.M. on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in his home. He was born October 30, 1936 in Brier Hill, Pa., a son of the late Harry Nelson and Martha (Rockwell) Gray. Mr. Gray was a 1954 graduate of German Township High School and served with the U. S. Army in Taiwan as a cryptologist. After serving in the Army, he worked for the CIA and then the British Overseas Airline Corporation. Mr. Gray was last employed at NASA as a field systems analyst. He enjoyed playing golf. On September 15, 1957, he married Jane Gideon, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Jeffery R. Gray and his wife, Sharon, of Crofton, Md., Gregory M. Gray and his wife, Suzanne, of Waldorf, Md. and Shawn E. Gray and his wife, Sue, of Cary, N. C.; a daughter, Joann K. Thornton and her husband, Patrick, of Hanover, Md.; three grandchildren, Erica N. Horowitz and her husband, Daniel, Jonathan P. Thornton and his wife, Paige, and Matthew R. Thornton; four great grandchildren, Amber, Amanda, Cody and Kaylee Thornton; a sister, Doris Wolff of Smithfield, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, Nelson Gray and three sisters, Edna Cory, Frances Savage and Virginia Yandura. Family and friends are welcome from 4 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. The Rev. Harold O. Kelley will officiate. Interment will follow at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Amedysis Hospice, 2183 McClellandtown Rd., Masontown, PA 15461.
