Raymond H. Rush

Raymond H. Rush, 94, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 9:43 A. M. on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Golden Living Center, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born January 24, 1917 in Cumberland Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of the late Ora and Della (Delaney) Rush. Mr. Rush worked as a blacksmith and welder at the Nemacolin Mine from where he retired in 1979. For many years, he operated his family farm on the South Branch of Muddy Creek Road in Carmichaels. Mr. Rush enjoyed playing pool and was a member of a local pool league. He was known for his many "stories". In addition, Mr. Rush was a member of the Carmichaels Moose Lodge No. 819 and was a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 of Carmichaels. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed auto mechanic work at home. His wife, Thelma E. (Maple) Rush, died on December 22, 1991. Surviving are two daughters, Sandra R. Mahle and her husband, Bunky, of Morgantown, W. Va. and Karen R. Ellenberger and her husband, Carl, of Lisbon, Ohio; four grandchildren, Patty M. Reed and her husband, Jeff, Kathy R. Milanowski and her husband, Dennis, Sherry L Denton and Troy W. Ellenberger; six great grandchildren, Payton Ellenberger, Alex Reed, Megan Reed, Michael Mahle, Hunter Milanowski and Rowan Milanowski; a great great granddaughter, Brittney Mahle; a sister-in-law, Cecil Rush of Waynesburg, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Thomas Rush, Samuel Rush and Joseph Rush and a sister, Viola Gay. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 A. M. until 12:00 Noon, the time of service, on Thursday, December 22, 2011 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The Rev. Bruce R. Judy will officiate. Interment will follow at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown, Pa. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Altzheimer's Foundation, P. O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
