Mildred "Millie" Henderson, 82, of Rices Landing (Dry Tavern), Pa., died at 11:25 A.M. on Thursday, December 29, 2011 in her home. She was born April 4, 1929 in Mononghela Township, Greene County, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Hazel Virginia (Keefover) Kiger. Mrs. Henderson worked as a seamstress at the Masontown (Pa.) Shirt Factory and later for Greenway Manufacturing in Nemacolin, Pa. She was a former member of the Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post 816 in Rices Landing. Her first husband, John Michael, died in 1970. On September 12, 1977, she married Raymond S. Henderson in Winchester, Va., who survives. Also surviving are two sons, John R. Michael and his wife, Kim, of Merritt Island, Fla. and Jerry L. Michael and his wife, Detra, of Dilliner, Pa.; two step daughters, Sherry J. Henderson of Hickory, N. C. and Brenda A. Henderson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, John Michael, Douglas Michael, Jodi Shoemaker and Jennifer Michael; four great grandchildren, Garett Michael, Abbie Shoemaker, Bess Shoemaker and Harlow Michael and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents and first husband are two brothers, John A. Kiger, Sr. and Robert E. Kiger and a sister, Betty J. Medunick. There will be no public viewing and the funeral service will be private. Private interment will take place at Garards Fort Cemetery, Garards Fort, Pa. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Amedisys Hospice, 2183 McCellandtown Rd., Masontown, PA 15461.
