Anna Brnusak Elnikar, 92, of Firestone, Col. and formerly of Greensboro (Glassworks), Pa., died Tuesday morning, January 31, 2012 in her home. She was born March 27, 1919 in Woodside, Nicholson Township, Fayette County, Pa., a daughter of the late Anthony and Anna A. (Verska) Brnusak. Mrs. Elnikar resided in Greensboro most of her life where she owned and operated a grocery store for a number years. She was a member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church of Greensboro where she served as sacristarian, a choir member and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. For many years, Mrs. Elnikar chaired the committee that prepared funeral luncheons in the church and she helped cook many fund raising dinners for the church. On May 11, 1936, she married Joseph F. Elnikar, Jr., who died November 14, 1999. Surviving are a son, Joseph A. "Pep" Elnikar, of Stow, Ohio; three daughters, Maryann Aker and her husband, Gary, of Silver Spring, Md., Dolores I. Dunn of Charlotte, N. C. and Rose A. Smotzer and her husband, George, with whom she made her home in Firestone; nine grandchildren, Mark Aker, Paula Fournier, Carolyn Knight, Edward Elnikar, Joseph Elnikar, Eric Elnikar, Jeffrey Dunn, Tracey Sherrill and Craig Smotzer; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Irene Volchko of Long Beach, Cal. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a granddaughter, Kelly Ann Smotzer; three brothers, Matthew Brnusak, Anthony Brnusak and Steve Brnusak; a sister, Mary Frankowsky and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Elnikar. Family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation to celebrate her life from 4 to 6 P.M. on Friday, February 24, 2012 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Holy Family Worship Site of the St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish, Greensboro, Pa. with the Rev. Lawrence V. Holpp as celebrant. Interment of her cremains will follow at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.
