W. Eileen Riess

W. Eileen Riess, 83, of Carmichaels, Pa, died at 2:35 A.M. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Golden Living Center, Waynesburg, Pa. She was born June 26, 1928 in Center Township, Greene County, Pa., a daughter of the late Harrison Morton and Mary Alberta (Breese) Johnston. Mrs. Riess was a 1946 graduate of Center Township High School and resided in Carmichaels since 1972. She was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carmichaels and the Missions (Sewing) Circle of the church. Mrs. Riess worked as a nursing assistant for 26 years at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital retiring in 1982. On April 8, 1972, she married George A. Riess, who survives. Mrs. Riess and her husband volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels from July of 1996 until her recent illness. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and was loved by all that knew her. Surviving are three sons, Gary E. Fox of Clarksville, Pa., George A. Riess, III of Melrose, Fla. and C. Wade Riess and his wife, Kelly, of Fredericksburg, Va.; two daughters, Donna Ratulowski of Camp Hill, Pa. and Beth Ann Higginbotham and her husband, Keith, of Spraggs, Pa.; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; a sister, Frances J. Crawford of Waynesburg and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter, Deborah Fox; six brothers, Glenn H. Johnston, Carl I. Johnston, Charles W. Johnston and three who died in infancy and a sister, Dorothy Johnston. Family and friends are welcome from 1 to 8 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carmichaels, Pa. with the Rev. Herbert D. Dubler officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 224 S. Market St., Carmichaels, PA 15320.
