Betty D. Johnson

Betty D. Johnson, 86, of Goode, Va. and formerly of Headlee Heights, Garards Fort, Pa., died at 5:55 A. M. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in her home. She was born June 1, 1925 in Dunkard Township, Greene County, Pa., a daughter of the late William Ernest and Hazel Jane (Swart) Donham. Mrs. Johnson was a 1943 graduate of Mapletown High School and was a former member of the John Corbley Memorial Baptist Church, Garards Fort. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Lippencott, Greene County and was one of the original "Rosie the riviters" in Akron, Ohio during World War II. Mrs. Johnson served on the board of education for the Southeastern Greene School District and at one time was active with her church's youth activities. She loved the Lord, had a wonderful sense of fun and kept her lilting alto voice until the end. On February 28, 1946, she married Harry T. Johnson, who died December 7, 2002. Surviving are three sons, Rev. Thomas V. Johnson and his wife, Sheryl, of Pottstown, Pa., Dennis D. Johnson and his wife, Carol, of Miami, Fla. and Keith J. Johnson and his wife, Megan, with whom she made her home in Goode, Va.; two daughters, Donna J. Stockton and her husband, Edward, of Murrysville, Pa. and Deborah A. Dancey and her husband, Marcus, of Shercock, County Cavin, Ireland; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a brother, David Donham and his wife, June, of Garards Fort, Pa.; two sisters, Mary Lou Michaels and Doris Foster and her husband, Larry, both of Pittsburgh, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 2, 2012. The Rev. Paul W. Roofner will officiate. Interment will follow at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown, Pa.
