Gladys L. Bishop, 98, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 10:32 A.M. on Friday, April 13, 2012, in her home. She was born July 15, 1913, in Hudson, Preston County, W. Va., a daughter of the late George Washington and Dora May (Cress) Liston. Mrs. Bishop resided in Cumberland Township, Greene County since 1932 and was a member of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, P.C.A. in Carmichaels. She was a member of the former New Provident (Glades) Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels and the Willing Workers of New Provident Presbyterian. Mrs. Bishop enjoyed quilting with the Women in the Church at Greene Valley Presbyterian. On December 29, 1928, she married John D. Bishop, who died September 16, 1998. Surviving are a son, Kent E. Bishop of Clarksville, Md.; five grandchildren, John Michael Bishop, Sandra Ann (Bishop) Edwards, David Jason Bishop, Kimberly Ann (Bishop) Gibbs and Kara Marie (Bishop) Morton; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Melvin M. Bishop; two brothers, Carlus Liston and Kenneth G. Liston; and three sisters, Beatrice Clair Morgan, Elizabeth E. Titchenell and Burnace Cuppett. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday and 11 A.M. to 12 P.M. Saturday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, April 21, 2012. The Rev. P. Keith Larson and the Rev. Harold O. Kelley will officiate. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the memorial fund of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 363, Carmichaels, PA 15320-0363.
