Henry F. Wytko, Sr., 86, of Greensboro, Pa., died at 11:43 A.M. on Thursday, April 26, 2012 in his home. He was born October 23, 1925 in Canyon, W. Va., a son of the late Joseph John and Anna Marie (Wolfe) Wojytko. Mr. Wytko was a 1943 graduate of University High School, Morgantown, W. Va. and was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Greensboro where he had sang in the church choir. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 6310 and worked as a mechanic and electrician at the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine, retiring in 1985 as a mechanic foreman. Mr. Wytko enjoyed hunting and fishing and served as a hunting safety instructor for about 20 years at the former Greensboro Hunting and Fishing Club. In the 1950's, he sang and played accordion and trumpet with his band, Henry Wytko and His Polish Orchestra. After his retirement from Duquesne Light, Mr. Wytko enjoyed woodworking, cabinet making and handy work in the community. He was a dedicated family man and especially cherished his grandsons. On January 14, 1950, he married Thelma J. Yaniga of York Run, Fayette County, Pa., who survives. Also surviving are a son, Henry F. Wytko, Jr. and his partner, Randy, of Springfield, Va.; a daughter, Debbie S. Gresh and her husband, Michael, of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Bradley P. Zoldak and his partner, Tamara, and Alan S. Zoldak and his wife, Whitney; a sister, Wanda V. Rable of Bedford Heights, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Joseph Wytko and Bernard Wytko and four sisters, Helen Domen, Josephine Ziemba, Frances Washnock and Antoinette Galusky. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where a blessing service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Monday, April 30, 2012, followed at 11:00 A.M. by a Mass of the Resurrection at the Holy Family Worship Site of the St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish, Greensboro with the Rev. Lawrence V. Holpp as celebrant. Interment will follow at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown, Pa. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Sunday in the funeral home. The family wishes to extend their thanks to Amedisys Hospice and Henry's caregivers, Jolene, Bev and Mary. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
