Donald R. Huggins, 64, of Headlee Heights, Garards Fort, Pa., died at 4:28 P.M. on Thursday, May 24, 2012 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. He was born August 2, 1947 in Dunkard Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of the late Raymond and Edith Louise (Fox) Huggins. Mr. Huggins was a 1966 graduate of Mapletown High School and served with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era and afterward with the Army National Guard. He worked at the former U. S. Steel Robina Mine and retired as a foreman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. After retirement, he drove bus for the Central Cab Company in Waynesburg. Mr. Huggins was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6303, Greensboro and Post 3491, Carmichaels, Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and the Bobtown Polish Club. He served on the board of directors for the Garards Fort Cemetery and enjoyed golfing and hunting. On January 3, 1971, he married Linda C. Arbogast, who died September 16, 2006.
Surviving are a son, Sam R. Huggins, at home; two daughters, Brandy M. Andrade and her husband, Marcus, of Las Vegas, Nev. and Heather L. Huggins and her companion, Harley Joe Gapen, of Greensboro, Pa.; two granddaughters, Kylie R. Andrade and Katie L. Eitner; a brother, Bob Huggins and his wife, Linda, of Mount Morris, Pa.; two sisters, Dortha L. Kiger and Doris J. Blaker and her husband, Jack, all of Garards Fort and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a grandson, Marcus Andrade and a brother, Harold E. Huggins.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Rev. Erwin Woody Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery with military honors accorded by Cumberland American Legion 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 3491 and 6303. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6303, Greensboro, PA 15338.
