Paul L. Franks, 50, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died at 12:35 A.M. on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Baptist Homes Nursing Center, Mount Lebanon, Pa. He was born August 10, 1961 in Franklin Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of Margaret Ann (Popernack) Franks of Bobtown, Pa. and the late Edward Joseph Franks, Sr. Mr. Franks was a 1979 graduate of Mapletown High School and attended Greene County Vocational Technical School where he studied carpentry. He was baptized in the St. Ignatius of Antioch Roman Catholic Church in Bobtown where he was an altar server. In his younger years, Mr. Franks was a member of the Boy Scouts in Bobtown and would have rather been outdoors than anywhere else. He enjoyed fishing, hunting with his dog, Rusty, trapping and camping. While residing at the Baptist Home for the past 33 years, he enjoyed participating in the many activities of the home, especially the music and singing programs. Surviving are two brothers, Andrew Stephen Franks and his wife, Marian, of Waynesburg, Pa. and Edward Joseph Franks, Jr. and his wife, Susie, of Williamstown, W. Va.; three sisters, Patricia J. Brown and her husband, Gregory, of Aliquippa, Pa., Suzanne E. Franks and her husband, Thomas Fakete, of Glenside, Pa. and Cindy Gaynor and her husband, John, of Oakdale, Pa.; seven nieces and nephews, Amy Dwyer and her husband, James, Jessica Tidwell and her husband, Deke, Matthew Franks, Lauren Franks, Sarah Brown, Ethan Brown and Edward Gaynor and Paul's longtime caretaker and companion, Leslee Kirsnes of Pittsburgh. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa., where a blessing service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Saturday, June 9, 2012, followed at 11:00 A. M. by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Ignatius of Antioch Roman Catholic Church, Bobtown with the Rev. Lawrence V. Holpp as celebrant. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Point Marion, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Baptist Homes Samaritan Fund for Residence Assistance, 489 Castle Shannon Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15234.
