Agnes Marie Dennis, 89, of Headlee Heights, Garards Fort, Pa., died at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 in her home. She was born July 19, 1922 in Seanor, Somerset County, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Mary Dill. Mrs. Dennis was a 1940 graduate of Mapletown High School, Greensboro, Pa. and was the school's first May Queen. She enjoyed playing sports, including basketball and was a member of the National Honor Society. Mrs. Dennis enjoyed homemaking and flower and vegetable gardening. She was a charter member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Carmichaels and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. On September 3, 1941 in a little church in the woods near Markleysburg, Pa., she married Harold R. Dennis, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara Dennis Sievert of Carmel, Ind. and Constance Lynn Pfiffner of North Gramby, Conn.; four grandchildren, David Pfiffner, Michael Pfiffner, Jennifer Svenstrup and Michelle Beehler; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are three brothers, Steve Dill, John Dill and George Dill and a sister, Ann Dill Gluvna. Family and friends are welcome from Noon to 1:00 P.M., the hour of service on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carmichaels, Pa. The Rev. Rebecca F. Dittenhafer will officiate. Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery, Garards Fort, Pa. The family requests that no flowers be sent and that memorial contributions be directed to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 224 South Market Street, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
