John Mikalik, 93, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 in his home. He was born November 15, 1918 in Birmingham, Ala., a son of the late Mike and Mary (Mischuk) Mikalik. Mr. Mikalik was a 1938 graduate of Mapletown High School and served with the U. S. Army during World War II. He retired from TRW Corporation in Detroit, Michigan and was a member of the United Auto Workers. Mr. Mikalik was also a member of Cumberland American Legion Post 400, Carmichaels and the Fayette County Old Time Fiddler's Association of Pennsylvania, Inc. He enjoyed hunting and trapping. On July 21, 1951, he married Delores B. Stencel, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Michael J. Mikalik and Melvin Mikalik, both of Carmichaels; a daughter, Beatrice Ann Livengood of Crucible, Pa.; five grandchildren, Bryce Mikalik, Brandon Mikalik, Rebecca Hughes, Roxanne Hammar and Crystal Mikalik; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Steve Mikalik and Alex Mikalik and a sister, Anna Keller. Family and friends are welcome from 7 to 9 P.M. on Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012. The Rev. Bruce R. Judy will officiate. Interment will follow at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown, Pa. with military honors accorded by Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491.
