Helen Przyhocki Sokol, 93, of Carmichaels, Pa. and formerly of Nemacolin, Pa., died at 8:25 P.M. on Monday, January 21, 2013 in Precious Moments Personal Care Home, Carmichaels. She was born October 11, 1919 in Bovard, Westmoreland County, Pa., a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Opolka) Przyhocki. Mrs. Sokol was a homemaker and a member of the Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society and the Christian Mothers of Nemacolin. She was a past president of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 400, Carmichaels, was a member of the Hey You Cootiettes of Greene County and the Nemacolin Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. In addition, Mrs. Sokol served as an officer for the Greene County Deanery. For many years, she organized and helped to prepare many funeral luncheons at Our Lady of Consolation. Mrs. Sokol enjoyed bowling and playing bingo and cards. On July 29, 1944, she married Stephen "Evie" Sokol, who died September 2, 1983. Surviving are two sons, Stephen A. Sokol and his wife, Millie, of Amissville, Va. and James M. Sokol and his wife, Wanda, of Rices Landing, Pa.; two daughters, Bernadine McKenzie and her husband, Leslie, of St. Augustine, Fla. and Marilyn Riggen and her husband, Michael, of Carmichaels; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Boss (Michael), James Michael Sokol, Jr. (Brenda), David Sokol (Kristen), Brian Sokol (Traci), Kevin Riggen, Tina Lamb (Dan) and Christopher McKenzie (Tiffany); 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Vincent Przyhocki and Andrew "Sonny" Przyhocki and seven sisters, Marie Calabris, Sophia Majewski, Anna Andrenok, Rose Helmick, Julia Dill, Nellie Calabris and Agnes Adamczyk. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where a blessing service will be held at 12:15 P. M. on Friday, January 25, 2013, followed at 1:00 P.M. by a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Crucible, Pa. with the Rev. Michael S. Suslowicz as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Crucible. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Amedisys Hospice, 2183 McClellandtown Road, Masontown, PA 15461. A vigil service will be held at 3:45 P.M. on Thursday in the funeral home.
