Frank "Fritz" Pecjak, Sr., 87, of Uniontown, Pa. and formerly of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 3:55 A.M. on Monday, October 7, 2013 in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born July 25, 1926 in Greensboro, Pa., a son of the late John and Johanna (Vicic) Pecjak. Mr. Pecjak was a 1945 graduate of Mapletown High School and a 1960 graduate of IBM. He served with the U. S. Army in the Italian occupation after World War II. In 1989, Mr. Pecjak retired from the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine in Greensboro. He was a member of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels, United Mine Workers of America Warwick Local 6310, Cumberland American Legion Post 400, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491, the Slovene National Benefit Society Lodge #101 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #819. On June 10, 1961, he married Juanita "Bonnie" Krause, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Frank William Pecjak and his wife, Terry, of Carmichaels; a daughter, Pamela Ruth Russell and her husband, Robert, of Carmichaels; two sisters, Angela Yasek of Greensboro and Albina Swanciger of Cleveland, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, John, Louis, Joseph and Anthony Pecjak and two sisters, Eustina Watona and Frances Hampsten. Family and friends are welcome from 4 to 6 P.M. on Wednesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the mausoleum chapel at Greene County Memorial Park, 1003 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370. The Rev. Harold O. Kelley will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. Military honors will be accorded by the Carmichaels Honor Guard composed of members of Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the memorial fund of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 or to Cumberland American Legion Post 400.
