Fred E. Carter, 70, of Carmichaels, Pa., died unexpectedly Monday evening, December 23, 2013 in his home. He was born December 26, 1942 in Jefferson Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of Matilda (Fox) Carter of Carmichaels and the late Lloyd Leroy Carter, Sr. Mr. Carter was a 1962 graduate of Cumberland Township High School and worked at the U. S. Steel Robena Mine until the mine closed. Afterward, he worked as a self employed auto body mechanic in Carmichaels. Mr. Carter enjoyed building model cars, watching NASCAR races and was a Pittsburgh Steelers football fan. On April 12, 1964, he married Lavonna G. Carter, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Marvin Carter and his wife, Brandy, of Greensboro, Pa., Shawn Carter of Carmichaels and Chris Carter of Mount Morris, Pa.; a daughter, Cynthia Simyak and her husband, Ed, of Carmichaels; eight grandchildren, Bradley Farrar, Stevie Carter, Roberta Carter, Kohl Carter, Garrett Carter, Gabrielle Carter, Claudia Carter and Alexis Carter; three brothers, Lloyd L. Carter of Carmichaels, Floyd P. Carter and his wife, Patti, of North Carolina and Glen W. Carter of Waynesburg, Pa.; a sister, Eve M. Weaver of Graysville, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is an infant sister and a brother, Joseph D. Carter. Family and friends are welcome from 5 to 7 P.M., the hour of service on Friday, December 27, 2013 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The Rev. P. Keith Larson will officiate. Interment will be private.
