Arleigh F. Boord, 73, of Carmichaels, Pa., died unexpectedly Sunday morning, July 27, 2014 in his home. He was born April 16, 1941 in Waynesburg, Pa., a son of the late Jacob Norman and Bernice Editha (Ruse) Boord. Mr. Boord was appointed in 1990 by the Honorable Judge H. Terry Grimes to the Board of Viewers for the Greene County Court. In addition, he served as a court appointed arbitrator for the Greene County Court, as chairman of the Greene County Election Board and as a court appointed Teller in Greene County. Mr. Boord was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carmichaels and enjoyed playing and teaching guitar for many years in the Carmichaels area. He also played in his band, "Country Cookin" for a number of years. Surviving are two brothers, D. Paul Boord and Kenneth A. Boord and his wife, Helen, all of Carmichaels; a sister-in-law, Frances Boord of Rochester, Pa.; his step children, Barbie Hunchuck and her husband, Ralph, of Carmichaels and Mary Jane Spore and her husband, Tim of Winchester, Va.; four step grandchildren, David Fedor and his wife, Andrea, of Prosperity, Pa., Amanda Jo Spore and Timmy Spore of Winchester and Aimee Woodring and her husband, Justin, of Raleigh, N. C. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Harold V. Boord and Raymond Lloyd "Peach" Boord; two sisters, Martha Pushey Chambola and Alberta Horner; his longtime companion, Josephine Kanopsky and a brother-in-law, Thomas Horner. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 with the Rev. Charles H. Sowden officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Pa.
