William "Ed" Cree, 80 of Goodlettsville, Tenn. and formerly of Garards Fort, Pa., died Monday, August 18, 2014 in Springfield, Tennessee. He was born February 15, 1934 in Garards Fort, a son of the late Cecil E. and Grace (Ross) Cree. Mr. Cree served aboard the U. S. S. Fearless in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He earned a degree in mathematics and was a Wisconsin State wrestling champion two years in a row. Mr. Cree pursued a career as an entertainer. He was a self-taught man, becoming proficient as a musician, singer, golfer, builder, birder and artist. His devotion to his wife and hers to him was exemplary. He will truly be missed. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Jan Cree; two daughters, P. J. Cree-Miller of Rochester, Minn. and Susan Cree-Bush and her husband, Ric, of Grapevine, Tex.; three grandchildren, Joshua Schmitz, Rylan Bush and Benjamin Bush; a brother, Teddy W. Cree of Garards Fort; a sister, Judith Shubert of Greensboro, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are a daughter, Grace Cree and a brother, Benny Cree. Family and friends are welcome from 7 to 9 P. M. on Saturday and Noon to 2 P. M., the hour of service on Sunday, August 24, 2014 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The Rev. Gary Whipkey will officiate. Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery where Cumberland American Legion Post 400, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 and the U. S. Navy will accord military honors. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
