Ethel Velicevich Bogdan, 86 of Greensboro, Pa., passed away at 6:03 P.M. on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at her home. She was born October 3, 1927 in Isabella, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Mary (Kirk) Skoda. Mrs. Bogdan was a 1945 graduate of Mapletown High School and a graduate of the Mason Frederick Beauty School in Uniontown, Pa. In her early years, she was a member of the Mapletown Civic Club, the Mapletown Band Boosters and served as president of the PTA at Southeastern Greene School District. Mrs. Bogdan was a former member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Greensboro and was currently a member of the St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels, Pa. She owned and operated Ethel Velicevich's Beauty Shop in Greensboro for 35 years where she enjoyed socializing with her customers. Mrs. Bogdan liked homemaking, dancing, reading, flower gardening and watching nature. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers and West Virginia University sports and was a supporter of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. On June 22, 1947, she married her beloved husband, John F. Velicevich, who died July 25, 1979. Surviving are a daughter, Dianna L. Moser and her husband, Gary, of Greensboro; a son John David Velicevich and his wife, Doris, of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Kara Messner and her husband, Shawn, John Velicevich and his wife, Andrea, Dawn Slokan and her husband, Tom and Matthew Moser and his wife, Lauren; four great grandchildren, Paige Messner, Morgan Messner, Noah Moser and Alexis Slokan; her dear brother, Alfred R. Skoda and his wife, Delores, of Medina, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is her second husband, Charles J. Bogdan. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. All are asked to meet on Friday, September 26, 2014 for a Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 A.M. at St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, 408 Route 88, Carmichaels with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant. Interment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A vigil service will be held at 3:45 P.M. on Thursday in the funeral home.
