Peter "Pete" Tudish, age 93 of Greensboro, Pa., formerly of Bobtown, Pa. died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. in his home following a lengthy illness. He was born June 27, 1921 in Grays Landing, Pa. a son of the late Paul and Ann (Gale) Tudish. Mr. Tudish moved to the Bobtown area, at a very young age, where he grew up and later graduated from Mapletown High School in 1939. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was a veteran of WW II, taking part in the battles of Guadalcanal and Bougainville, where he served as a Flight Engineer and Ground Crew with the planes. He retired from the United States Air Force with over 30 years of service having attained the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant. After his retirement he enjoyed being a carpenter and craftsman, having built the home his family lived in. Mr. Tudish also loved playing golf, a sport he learned to play in England while stationed overseas. He and his wife enjoyed playing in the couple's league at Carmichaels Golf Course. Mr. Tudish attended the Mt. Calvary Methodist Church and was a member of the Greensboro Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6303. On April 2, 1946, he married Anne L. "Weegie" (Carr) Tudish, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Kevin P. Tudish and his wife, Nanci, of San Jose, Cal. and a daughter, Catherine L. Tudish, of Strafford, Vt. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Gia Tudish of San Jose, Cal. and five nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents is a sister, Genevieve Harding. Family and friends are welcomed from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Hanley officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Greensboro. The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15205. Full military rites will be accorded by the United States Air Force, American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts 6306 and 3491.
