John R. Darr, 82, of Mount Morris (Davistown), Pa., died at 11:11 P.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. He was born March 29, 1932 in Greensboro, Pa., a son of the late Kramer Calvin and Myrtle Mae (Hawk) Darr. Mr. Darr attended Mapletown High School where he enjoyed wrestling. He worked as a commercial painter for the Master Painters Association in Akron, Ohio before returning to Davistown in the early 1970's where he resided for the past 40 years. He worked construction with Laborer's Local Union 1058 from 1982 until 1994 when he retired. Mr. Darr enjoyed working his family farm, singing karaoke at O'Reilly's Pub in Mount Morris, playing his guitar and banjo and racing stock cars at the Morgantown Speedway. He attended Davistown Church. Surviving are a daughter, Shirley M. Howard and her husband, John E., of Greensboro; two sons, Richard L. "Bud" Darr and his companion, Theresa, of Mount Morris and Raymond C. Darr and his companion, Angela, of Dilliner, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Amy Ponzoo (Chris), Scott Howard (Amber), Lori Rankin (Jeremie), Jaime McClead (Mike), Joseph Darr (Heather), Karen Mayle, Steven Darr and Jessica Darr; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a son, John John Howard; his twin brother, Jake C. Darr and seven sisters, Edith Darr, who died in childhood, Hazel Kathryn Grim, Garnet M. Carr, Alice Mae Krupski, Betty Popovich, Flora Margaret Kelly and Mary Emma MacDonald. Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 27, 2015. Pastor Ginny Eberhart will officiate. Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery, Garards Fort, Pa.
