Joseph D. "Joe" Bird age 40, of Hyndman, Pa., formerly of Carmichaels, Pa., died Saturday March 7, 2015 at WMHS Regional Medical Center in Cumberland, Md. He was born October 13, 1974 in Uniontown, Pa. a son of the late Ira and Sandra (Tillery) Bird. Joe was a mechanic. He also volunteered at the Hyndman Food Bank and enjoyed helping people. Joe would "give you the shirt off his back". He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working around the house. On December 17, 2010 he married Amy L. (Piper) Bird who survives. Surviving are four sisters, Sharon Hathaway of Carmichaels, Sandy Provance and husband, Lenny of Clarksville, Pa., Carolyn Perry and husband, Thurman of Bobtown, Pa. and Latasha Bird of Huntsville, Ala.; one aunt, Lisa Garrison of Bobtown; father and mother-in-law, Johnny and Debbie Piper of Hyndman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Deceased is a brother-in-law, James Hathaway. Friends and family will be received in the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman, Pa. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday where funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Pastor Ken Korns will officiate. Interment will follow in Porter Cemetery, Hyndman. A memorial service will be held in Carmichaels for friends and family at a later date.
