Lee O. Jamison

Lee O. Jamison, 84, of Carmichaels, Pa, died at 12:51 A.M. on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born October 4, 1930 in Rices Landing, Pa., a son of the late Earl Willis and Sara Victoria (Craft) Jamison. Mr. Jamison was a graduate of Jefferson High School and attended Waynesburg College for a short time in 1949. He worked as a welder on the Crucible Docks in 1949. Mr. Jamison served with the U. S. Navy from 1950 until 1954 attaining the rank of yeoman second class. He attended stenotype school while on shore duty in Pearl Harbor. Mr. Jamison served aboard the U.S.S. Lofberg which performed indiction bombing in Wousan Harbor in North Korea. He served three tours of duty in Korea. He was especially proud that four members of his immediate family served in World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. After serving in Korea, Mr. Jamison worked as a machinist for the Eaton Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio. While working for Eaton, he earned his bachelor's degree in the Russian language and geography from Western Reserve University. Mr. Jamison worked as a substitute Russian teacher in northeastern Ohio schools and retired from the Eaton Corporation. Mr. Jamison was a member of the Rices Landing United Methodist Church and Cumberland American Legion Post 400. His wife, Betty (Whipkey) Jamison, who he married in April of 1960, died January 6, 2004. On May 17, 2005, he married Linda Diane (Gump) McDiffitt, who survives. Also surviving are a special niece, Darlene E. Stoner of Gettysburg, Pa.; several additional nieces and nephews; three step sons, Terry McDiffitt of Moundsville, W. Va., Steven McDiffitt and his wife, Lisa, of Glen Easton, W. Va. and Jason McDiffitt and his companion, Lindsay, of Carmichaels and a step grandson, Roger McDiffitt. He also leaves behind his loving pet Shih Tzu, Alitia Gia. Deceased are four brothers, Richard Jamison, who died in infancy, Larry Craft Jamison, Kenneth E. Jamison and Ralph E. Jamison and two sisters, Kathleen Jamison Provance and Sandra Jamison Beech. There will be no public viewing. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Greene Academy of Art, P.O. Box 309, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
