Peter D. Holland, Jr.

Peter D. Holland, Jr., 88, of Jefferson, Pa., died at 12:15 P.M. on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at his home. He was born March 9, 1926 in Moneta, Va., a son of the late Peter Davis and Thelma (Woodford) Holland, Sr. He served with the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II with the 3704th Army Air Forces Base Unit. Mr. Hollard worked as a U. S. postal inspector throughout the country. He was a member of Bedford Lodge No. 244, A. F. & A. M., Bedford, Va. and was a Southern Baptist. Mr. Holland enjoyed traveling in his R. V. with his wife. The couple visited every state in the nation except for Alaska. In addition, he enjoyed family gatherings, cookouts, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. On November 21, 2003, he married Bessie P. Lutes, who survives. Also surviving are a step son, Donald L. Powell and his wife, Alicia, of Smock, Pa.; five step daughters, Carol Jean Gray and her husband, Jerry, of Big Horn, Wyo., Diana L. Green and her husband, Christopher, of Helper, Utah, Donna L. Stehley of Morgantown, W. Va., Reva Ann Clements of Clarksburg, Ind. and Denyse L. Elkins of Waynesburg, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. There will be no public viewing or service. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
