Charles W. Lemunyon, 78, of Garards Fort, Pa. and formerly of Morgantown, W. Va., died at 3:55 A.M. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born November 28, 1936 in Garards Fort, a son of the late Kenneth W. and Marie (Darr) Lemunyon. Mr. Lemunyon was a 1955 graduate of Mapletown High School, Mapletown, Pa. where he played varsity football. He was a member of the Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle and a former member of the Baden United Methodist Church, Baden, Pa. and the Masontown United Methodist Church, Masontown, Pa. Mr. Lemunyon worked as a journeyman machinist for J & L Steel Corporation in Aliquippa, Pa. Later he worked five years at the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine and then in management at the Cumberland Coal. Mr. Lemunyon relocated to Redstone, Col. where he worked in management for Midcontinent Resources. He then moved to Butler, Pa. where he worked for the Darmac Corporation until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Lemunyon was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Glenwood Springs, Col. and later in Butler, Pa. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and W. V. U. Mountaineer fan. Mr. Lemunyon also enjoyed woodworking, the outdoors and his pets. When his sons were younger, he served as a assistant scout leader. On August 31, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Janet Fonner, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, C. Gregory Lemunyon and his wife, Michele, of Barnesville, Ohio and Keith McKivergan and his wife, Jacki, of New Mexico; four grandchildren, Stephen Lemunyon, David Lemunyon, Daniel Lemunyon and Lauren Lemunyon; a niece, Kim Shepherd and her husband, Randy, of Pedro, Ohio; two nephews, Scot Moore and his wife, Lisa, and Todd Moore and his wife, Nancy, all of Waynesburg, Pa.; three cousins, Stephanie Dorsey and her husband, Jerry, and Marie Zalar and her husband, Steve, all of Greensboro and Velva Furno and her husband, Fred, of Richwood, Ohio and his sister-in-law, Carol Engle and her husband, Marty, of Prosperity, Pa. Deceased are a sister-in-law, Dee Stroman and two nephews, Michael Moore and Troy Stroman. Family and friends are welcome from 3 to 8 P.M. on Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M., the hour of service on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle, Mount Morris, Pa. The casket will not be open in church. Pastor John Jackson and Associate Pastor Milford Watters will officiate. Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery, Garards Fort. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the College Scholarship Fund of the Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle, P. O. Box 36, Mount Morris, PA 15349 or to the Nathaniel Greene Foundation, c/o Mary Shine, P. O. Box 458, Greensboro, PA 15338 or to the Greene County Historical Society, 918 Rolling Meadows Rd, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
