Rose Marie "Ree" A. Johnson, 86, of Carmichaels, Pa. and formerly of Port Vue, Pa. and Myrtle Beach, S. C., died at 4:43 A.M. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at her home. She was born April 5, 1929 in McKeesport, Pa., a daughter of the late Anthony and Rose (Fichera) Thomasell. Mrs. Johnson resided in Port Vue, Myrtle Beach and, for the past six years, in Carmichaels. She was a 1950 graduate of Mercy School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pa. and worked as a registered nurse. Mrs. Johnson was an Anglican and attended the First United Methodist Church of Carmichaels where she was a member of the Wednesday Afternoon Card Group. She was an avid reader and knitter of the "magic slippers". Mrs. Johnson was affectionately known by her grandchildren as "grammy", "mamaw", "grandma" and "mammoo". She was a past Worthy Matron of White Oak Chapter No. 542 O. E. S., McKeesport. On April 24, 1953, she married Charles "Lucky" Johnson, who died September 19, 2010. Surviving are a son, Charles S. Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Vicky, of New Brighton, Pa.; three daughters, Amy Mansfield and her husband, Kenny, of Port Vue, Bonnie Judy and her husband, the Rev. Bruce Judy, with whom she made her home in Carmichaels and Dawn Boswell and her husband, Rob, of New Brighton; 10 grandchildren, Joey Mansfield, Kate Galante, Cheri Hunt, Charles "Sly" Johnson, Justin Judy, Jacob Judy, Hannah Loughman, Caleb Judy, Zechariah Boswell and Phoebe Rose Boswell and seven great grandchildren, Elijah Judy, Jonathan Judy, Lydia Judy, Leviticus Judy, Tori Hunt, Anthony Hunt, III and Charles Johnson, V. Deceased is a sister, Carmella Valente. There will be no public viewing and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 3, 2015 at St. Peter's Anglican Church, 60 Morgantown St., Uniontown, PA 15401 with the Rev. John Cruikshank officiating. Following the memorial service, a luncheon will be held at the social hall of the First United Methodist Church, 104 E. South St., Carmichaels. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the scholarship fund at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, 1401 Blvd of the Allies, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave, New York, NY 10065.
