Mary Elizabeth Forkin, 101, of Bobtown, Pa., died at 2:35 P.M. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at her home. She was born August 22, 1914 in Keisterville, Pa., a daughter of the late John Allen and Daisy Barbara (Thomas) Craft. Mrs. Forkin was a 1931 graduate of Uniontown High School and resided in Bobtown since 1934 where she was a member of the Bobtown United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, the church choir and the adult Sunday school class. Mrs. Forkin, along with two other ladies in Bobtown were instrumental in the founding of the Senior Center in Bobtown, which she served as secretary. On June 11, 1934, she married Richard J. Forkin, who died December 31, 1978. Surviving are a son, Dale E. Forkin and his wife, Ella, of Royersford, Pa.; two daughters, Shirley J. Gasti of Bobtown and Mary "Doll" Carpenter of Morgantown, W. Va.; nine grandchildren, Denise Gasti, Charles Gasti and his wife, Roxanne, James Gasti, Michele Yelenik and her husband, Richard, John Gasti and his wife, Sandra, Beth Morgan, Belinda Varndell and her husband, Tommy, Deborah Madden and her husband, Chris, and Deanna Becker; 14 great grandchildren, Nicole Gasti, Charles Gasti, Nathan Gasti, Allison Kennedy, Natalie Yelenik, Stephen Yelenik, Marissa Yelenik, David Paul Morgan, Deja Frazier, Tabitha Morgan, Anthony Varndell, Hailey Varndell, Jessica Becker and Tiffany Becker; eight great great grandchildren, Bailey Barnyak, Nash Onderko, Vanessa Morgan, David Allen Morgan, Ella Frazier, Layla Frazier, J-Man Frazier and Ashton Morgan; a brother, Edward Craft and his wife, Connie, of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Ethel Whetsel and her husband, Don, of Upper Middletown, Pa.; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and her extended family, Dustin and Joyce Bronson and Cheryl Saxton. Deceased are a son Richard Forkin; a grandson, Michael Gasti; two brothers, John Craft and William Craft and five sisters, Florence Swaniger, Marie Leichleiter, Ruth Bosley, Thelma DeRosa and Betty Dillinger. The family extends a special thanks to Amedisys Home Care and Hospice of Masontown, Pa., to Miller Healthcare and to the many that offered care to Mrs. Forkin throughout her later years. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home , Carmichaels, Pa. There will be no visitation on Labor Day Monday. Additional visitation will take place at the Bobtown United Methodist Church, Bobtown, Pa. from 10:00 A. M. until 11:00 A. M., the hour of service, on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Pastor Edward Hanley will officiate. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Bobtown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 172, Bobtown, PA 15315 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
