Andrew N. "Butch" Szoyka

Andrew "Butch" Szoyka, age 69 of Nemacolin, Pa. died unexpectedly Saturday, September 19, 2015 in his home. He was born August 24, 1946 in Franklin Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of the late George and Josephine (DeLuca) Szoyka,Sr. Mr. Szoyka was a 1964 graduate of Carmichaels High School and went on to earn his teaching degree from California University of PA (formerly California State College). He worked in Special education for the Intermediate Unit 1 for 38 years in various schools throughout Greene, Fayette and Washington counties, having retired in 2003. Mr. Szoyka was an avid sports fan, especially the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. He was a member of the Clarksville Area Lions Club for many years. Mr. Szoyka was known for his love of dogs, especially his beloved Burdie and Lucy. Surviving is his step sister, Lynn "Ruth" Bartley of Ohio; his devoted nephew, Richard N. Nelson and his wife, Marlene of Nemacolin and his great nephews, Jeremy and Garrett Nelson. Deceased in addition to his parents are two sisters, Jeannine Colvin and Patricia Szoyka and two step brothers, Earl Szoyka and George Szoyka, Jr. Family and friends are welcome from 4 to 6 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 25, 2015.
