Shelba J. Shook, 75, of Greensboro, Pa., died unexpectedly at 6:25 A.M. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in her home. She was born August 23, 1940 in Reedsville, W. Va., a daughter of the late Orville W. and Viola Bell (Everts) Smith. Mrs. Shook resided in Monongahela Township, Greene County for the past 40 years and was a member and choir director for the First Baptist Church in Carmichaels, Pa. She served as treasurer for the Women On Mission (WOM) in the Church, assisted with vacation bible school and attended the adult Sunday school class. Mrs. Shook worked at Krogers in Sabraton, W. Va. for many years and retired in 2001 as assistant head manager. She enjoyed traveling to shows at the local casinos. While her mother, Viola, was living at Point Manor Personal Care Home, she provided an exercise class for the patients. Surviving are a son, Timothy R. Shook and his wife, Cammie, of Greensboro; a daughter, Debra K. West of Ruther Glenn, Va.; two step sons, James R. Maraney and his wife, Debra, of Carmichaels and John E. Maraney of Alicia, Pa.; two step daughters, Dominique "Nikki" Wallace and her husband, Stacey, of Vacaville, Cal. and Jamie M. Siebert of Nemacolin, Pa.; 12 grandchildren, Heather Shook and her wife, Claire, Cody Shook, KC Shook, KJ Shook, Shastina Humble and her husband, Ben, James Tony Maraney, Josh Maraney, Torie Maraney, Jessica Wallace, Jacob Wallace, Billy Siebert and Shay Siebert; three nephews, Mark Smith, William Greaser and Roger Greaser; three nieces, Penny Smith, Carolyn Shaffer and Debra Poland; several great nieces and nephews; her caregiver and companion, Charlotte Hager and her best friend, Barbara A. Maskil of Carmichaels. Shelba and Barbara were affectionately know in the fellowship of their church as "Thelma and Louise". Deceased are her first husband, Melvin R. Shook; her second husband, James R. Maraney, Sr.; a brother, Prentice Smith; a sister, Doris Jean Greaser and a nephew, Gary Smith. Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A. M. on Friday, October 30, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, Carmichaels, Pa. with Pastor Charles H. Sowden and Rev. Gary D. Cobert officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at 1:00 P.M. following the funeral service on Friday at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mt. Zion Road, Masontown, W. Va. for the graveside committal service. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, 775 S. Eighty Eight Rd., Carmichaels, PA 15320.
