Robert E. Blaker, 83, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 10:18 P.M. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 in his home. He was born April 10, 1932 in Cumberland Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of the late Harry Milton and Vaetta (Davidson) Blaker. Mr. Blaker attended Cumberland Township High School and served with the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a resident of Cumberland Township all of his life and first worked for Crane Brothers on the Monongahela River prior to working at the Nemacolin Mine until the mine closed. Mr. Blaker then ran heavy equipment at the landfill at McClellandtown until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling and raising and selling his cattle on his family farm. Mr. Blaker was currently serving as a deacon at the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels and was a member of the adult Sunday school class. Being a man of faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, he always acted kindly and considerately and left your company with his usual expression, "And you have a nice day".
Surviving are two sons Robert M. Blaker and his wife, Charlotte, of Rices Landing, Pa. and Earl E. Blaker of Carmichaels; two grandsons, Robert Edgar Blaker and Jeffery Ian Blaker; a sister, Marjorie Nixon of Ruskin, Fla.; the mother of his sons, Annetta Kiger, of Rices Landing and his special friend and sweetheart, Marge Smith, of Carmichaels. Deceased are a brother, Harry Vernon Blaker and a sister, Gladys Zeoli.
Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 P.M. on Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, 104 East Greene Street, Carmichaels. Pastor P. Keith Larson will officiate.
Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery, Garards Fort, Pa.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 363, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
