Mildred Edith Johnson Donato, 82, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Golden LivingCenter, Waynesburg, Pa. She was born May 2, 1933 in Crucible, Pa., a daughter of the late Wilbur and Ethel Mae (Snyder) Johnson. Mrs. Donato was a 1951 graduate of Cumberland Township High School in Carmichaels. While residing in New York State, she taught Sunday school for 20 years at the Hendrickson Avenue Bible Church in Lynbrook, N. Y. Mrs. Donato also taught the Pioneer Girls, daily vacation school and was a member of the church choir. She worked at the Pentagon for the U. S. Signal Corps for six years and at the Malverne School District, Malverne, N. Y. for 14 years.
Mrs. Donato and her husband, Angelo, returned to Carmichaels in January of 1985 where she was a member of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church and it's Women in the Church. She volunteered in adult reading education for the Greene County Library System and at the ACTS Shop in Carmichaels. Her membership also included the American Federation of School Civil and Municipal Employees. Mrs. Donato enjoyed reading, crocheting and most especially, the company of her family. On October 26, 1957, she married Angelo P. Donato, who died August 28, 2012.
Surviving are a son, Mark Johnson Donato and his wife, Diane of Carmichaels; a daughter, Louisa Johnson Keller and her husband, Richard, of Carmichaels; seven grandchildren, Allen William Keller and his wife, Rachel, Jason Robert Keller, Nathan Thomas Keller, Ricki Samala Keller, Jessica Marie Donato, Jennifer Lynn London and her husband, Matthew and Dominic Johnson Donato; two great grandsons, Brandon C. Keller and Logan J. Keller; a sister, Carol Modrick, of Carmichaels and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is an infant sister, Delores Lucille Johnson.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Monday, February 8, 2016. The Rev. P. Keith Larson will officiate.
Interment will follow at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 363, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
