Louis F. Drotos and his wife, Mary Sue Drotos, both 67 of Nemacolin, Pa., died unexpectedly Thursday morning, February 11, 2016 in their home. Louis was born January 28, 1949 in Washington, Pa., a son of the late Louis and Margaret (Radachy) Drotos. Mary Sue was born August 5, 1948 in Waynesburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Frederick A. and Wilma (Waters) Stewart.
Louis was a 1966 graduate of Beth Center High School and received his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering technology. He resided in Nemacolin most of his life where he was a former member of the Our Lady of Consolation Parish and the Nemacolin Volunteer Fire Company. Louis served with the U. S. Army during Vietnam and worked as a coal miner at the Nemacolin Mine and the Beth Energy Mine in Eighty Four, Pa. He retired from Eastern Isotopes, Inc. in Morgantown, W. Va. Louis cherished his family and enjoyed playing golf, fishing and the company of his dogs.
Mary Sue was a 1967 graduate of Carmichaels Area High School and resided in Nemacolin most of her life where she was a former member of the Our Lady of Consolation Parish and the Nemacolin Volunteer Fire Company. She worked for about six years as an emergency medical technician and lastly as a dispatcher for EMS Southwest in Carmichaels. She had also worked as a licensed practical nurse at the former Curry Memorial Home in Waynesburg, Pa. and Jones' Personal Care Home in Carmichaels. Mary Sue was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
The couple is survived by a son, Christopher Michael Drotos of McKeesport, Pa.; a daughter, Kimberly A. Drotos of McKeesport; two grandchildren, Nathanael L. Rager and Alyssa M. Rager, both of Nemacolin and several nieces and nephews. Louis is also survived by a sister, Joanne Lofgren and her husband, David, of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Deceased are his brother, Michael Stanton Drotos and his sister, Donna Schroeder.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P. M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Dr. Fred Guidi will officiate.
Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park with military honors accorded to Louis by the Carmichaels Honor Guard and the U. S. Army.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Greene County, 183 Jefferson Rd, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
