Ross J. Hill

Ross J. Hill, 72 of Greensboro, Pa., died at 9:21 A.M. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 in his home. He was born April 11, 1943 in Bobtown, Pa., a son of the late Harry A. and Margaret R (Downey) Hill. Mr. Hill resided in Monongahela Township, Greene County most of his life where he was a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church. He served with the U. S. Army Reserve and retired as a tree trimmer for Townsend Tree Service on March 15, 2004. Mr. Hill was a member of Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 in Carmichaels, Pa. and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6303 in Greensboro. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors and participated in numerous veterans funeral services with the Carmichaels Honor Guard. On December 25, 1963, he married Gloria Jean Helisek, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John I. Hill and his wife, Karen, of Tarboro, N. C. and Anthony D. Hill at home; three daughters, Annetta J. Shaffer and her husband, Lloyd, of Carmichaels, Opal L. Haring and her husband, Joe, of Jefferson, Pa. and Loni M. Rush and her husband, Kevin, of Greensboro; 12 grandchildren, Logan Hill, Donavon Rush, Cameron Rush, Preston Rush, Kevin Rush, Jr., Ashley Ewing, John Hill and his wife, Megan, Opal Haring, Crystal Jenkins and her husband, Kevin, Tonya Haring, Bobbi Jo Haring and Lloyd Shaffer; 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Rev. Harry A. Hill and his wife, Patty, of Greensboro; four sisters, Nettie E. Hill and Martha L. Hill, both of Greensboro, Florence Lynn and her husband, Walter, of Smithton, Pa. and Dorothy Koast of Fairchance, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, Ross J. Hill, Jr. and a sister, Catherine Kuhn.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Aarron Minister, Zane Mitchell will officiate.

Carmichaels Honor Guard and the U. S. Army will accord military honors at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service.

Mr. Hill requested that contributions be made directly to his family.
