Thomas F. Hixon, II, 68, of Rices Landing, Pa., died at 9:47 P.M. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 in his home. He was born February 23, 1948 in Rices Landing, a son of the late Thomas Franklin Hixon and Mary (Hollis) Hixon Rager. Mr. Hixon was a 1966 graduate of Jefferson Morgan High School and attended California University of Pennsylvania. He served with the U. S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam Era and retired from the Foundation Coal Company Cumberland Mine in 2006. Mr. Hixon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waynesburg, Pa. and Waynesburg Lodge No 153, F. & A. M. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles. On May 6, 2006, he married Mary J. Hayes, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Thomas F. Hixon, III and his wife, Amy Sue, of Keller, Tex.; a daughter, Gwendolyn M. Hasselquist and her husband, Eric, of Fort Lewis, Wash.; a step son, Joshua L. Deems of Clarksville, Pa.; a step daughter, Barbara S. Deems of Clarksville and six grandchildren, Courtney M. Williams, Rian Renee Barnett, Tiffany A. Ames, Tanner R. Hixon, Fisk Rune Hasselquist and Mauve Hasselquist; a great grandson, Carson; a sister, Celissa M. Smolk and her husband, Richard, of Carmichaels and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a sister, Mary Jane Kast.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:15 A.M. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016.
The committal service and military honors will be accorded beginning at 1:30 P.M. following the funeral service on Wednesday at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, Pa.
