Harry Frederick Brown

April 15, 1929 — March 31, 2016

Harry Frederick Brown, 86, of Bobtown, Pa., a coal miner, veteran and avid outdoorsman, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, in the Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown, W.Va., about two weeks short of his 87th birthday. He was born April 15, 1929 in Monongahela Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of the late Theodore and Margaret (Kirchner) Brown. Being the firstborn, even his siblings called him "Son" throughout his life. Mr. Brown grew up in Penn Pitt and graduated from Mapletown High School before serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for 36 years for the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine, primarily as a mechanic, until he was sidelined by a disability. Mr. Brown was a member of St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish in Bobtown.

Despite his physical limitations, he was able to continue to enjoy his passion for hunting and fishing by utilizing various all-terrain vehicles. Mr. Brown was able to spend many long summers at his beloved camp in Forest County near Tidioute because of the loving assistance provided by his niece, Patty Dikun, and her children. He spent his final days under the excellent care provided by the staff at Sundale Nursing Home and Morgantown Hospice. His wife, Anna (Magon) Brown, died April 24, 1973.

Surviving are two sons, Gregory Brown and his wife, Patricia, of Aliquippa, Pa., and Michael Brown and his wife, Heather, of Point Marion, Pa.; a daughter, Janice Barzanti and her husband, Robert, of Bobtown; a daughter-in-law, Kelly Brown of Bobtown; a sister, Joyce Lee and her husband, George, of Burghill, Ohio and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William E. Brown Sr., Walter R. Brown and Theodore A. Brown Jr. and a sister, Juanita Peluso.
