Irvin L. Mt.Joy, 69, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 12:45 P.M. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. after a lengthy illness. He was born July 6, 1946 in Cumberland Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of Mary Frances (Bakewell) Mt.Joy of Carmichaels and the late Ralph Edwin Mt.Joy. Mr. Mt.Joy was a 1964 graduate of Carmichaels Area High School and worked for J & L Steel Corporation in Cleveland, Ohio for seven years. Afterward, he worked for Cambria Drilling and lastly as a carpenter in Washington, D. C. Mr. Mt.Joy was a Methodist and enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.
Surviving in addition to his mother are a son, Irvin Lee Mt.Joy, Jr. of Clemmons, N. C.; two grandchildren, Alyssa Mt.Joy and Logan Mt.Joy; a brother, Richard Mt.Joy of Carmichaels; five sisters, Dalene Watson and her husband, Robert, of Carmichaels, Joyce Busti and her husband, Pete, of Crucible, Pa.; Mary Jo Corcoran of Carmichaels; Kim Nath and her husband, John, of Valencia, Pa. and Shaneen Krebs and her husband, Chris, of Gibsonia, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two sons, Irvin Lee Mt.Joy, who died in infancy and John Edward Mt.Joy; a sister, Paula Huff and the mother of his children, Carol Ann (Fartley) Mt.Joy.
Family and friends are welcome from 5 to 8 P.M. on Monday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. and from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, 101 West South Street, Carmichaels with the Rev. Bruce R. Judy officiating.
Interment will follow at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Foster Plaza #11, 790 Holiday Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
