Anna R. Schulmeister, 99, of Rices Landing, Pa., died at 7:35 A.M. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Waynesburg, Pa. She was born August 9, 1916 in Grindstone, Fayette County, Pa., a daughter of the late John Andrew and Mary (Snock) Hvizda. Mrs. Schulmeister resided in Rices Landing nearly all of her life where she was a member of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church since 1928. She was a former member and past president of the Sacred Heart Rosary Altar Society and a charter member of the Rices Landing American Legion Post 816 Women's Auxiliary where she served as Sergeant of Arms. Mrs. Schulmeister worked for Greenway Manufacturing as a shirt inspector for 18 years. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Her husband, Max Schulmeister, died December 16, 1974.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara A. Murray of Rochester Hills, Mich., Maxine J. Sloneker and her husband, Delbert, and Bonnie L. Sutphin and her husband, Rick, all of Rices Landing; seven grandchildren, Andrea Obrzut and her husband, Mark, Del Sloneker and his wife, Lynda, Kenneth Sloneker and his wife, Jana, Matthew Sloneker, Kathy Cochran and her husband, Don, Ricky Sutphin and his wife, Erin and Michael Adamson; 10 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Eitner and Betty Visnesky, both of Loraine, Ohio; a son-in-law, Duane Adamson of Waynesburg, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter, Jean M. Adamson and four brothers, John Hvizda, Joe Hvizda, Steve Hvizda and Paul Hvizda and a sister, Mary Yoders.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where a blessing service will be held at 10:20 A.M. on Friday, July 22, 2016, followed at 11:00 A. M. by a Mass of the Resurrection at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Rices Landing with the Rev. John M. Bauer as celebrant.
Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery, Rices Landing.
A vigil service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday in the funeral home.
