Grant E. Franks

Grant E. Franks, 87, of Carmichaels, Pa., died unexpectedly Sunday morning, July 24, 2016 in his home. He was born September 11, 1928 in Redstone Township, Fayette County, Pa., a son of the late Edward Franklin and Evelyn Hildia (Reagan) Franks. Mr. Franks served with the U. S. Army and resided in Cumberland Township, Greene County since 1967. He was a member of American Legion Post 816 in Rices Landing and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. Mr. Franks worked for many years for Babcock and Wilcox Construction at numerous power stations. He enjoyed gardening, wood carving and collecting John Deere tractors. On October 16, 1954, he married Garnet E. Hall, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, David G. Franks and his wife, Catherine, of Rices Landing and Michael S. Franks of Carmichaels; three grandchildren, Jessica C. Franks of Rices Landing, Michael S. Franks, Jr. serving with the U. S. Air Force in Germany and Heidi N. Owen of Tennessee; a great granddaughter, Willow Grace Owen; two sisters, Dorothy McCombs of Andover, Ohio and Portia Fullgrabe of Springfield, Ill. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, John N. Franks and Gene M. Franks.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. The Rev. Harold O. Kelley will officiate.

Entombment will follow at the mausoleum at LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa. with military honors accorded by the Carmichaels Honor Guard and the U. S. Army.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army, Greene County Service Center, 131 West First Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
