Edward Radovich, 92, of Silver Spring, Md., died at 6:00 A.M. on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring. He was born May 30, 1924, in Masontown, Pa., son of the late Eli and Katie (Basara) Rodavich. On March 6, 1948, he married Phyllis R. Carr, who survives. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary R. Koppal and her husband, Raymond, of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Janis Rae Stengle and her husband, Thomas, of Clarksville, Md.; three grandchildren, Matthew T. Koppal and his wife, Crystal, of Key West, Fla., Brian T. Koppal and his wife, Theresa, of Casa Grande, and Christian P. Stengle and his wife, Carrie, of Baltimore, Md.; five great grandchildren, Lindsey Koppal, Christian Koppal, Landon Koppal, Renee Koppal and Grant Koppal; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Milan Rodavich, who died in childhood, Stanley Rodavich; Steve Rodavich; and George Rodavich and eight sisters, Mary Rodavich; Emily Ann Andish; Rose E. Zorich; Dolores Radovich; Mildred Applebaum; Dorothy Senko; Ann Kaprive; and Libby Kumper.
Mr. Radovich was a 1943 graduate of Masontown High School and earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. He began work on a Master's degree at American University, Washington, D. C. Mr. Radovich resided in Silver Spring for the past 50 years where he was a member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. He served in Southeast Asia as a member of the U. S. Army during World War II and in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He also inspired many of his family to serve their country. While serving with the U. S. Air Force, Mr. Radovich began working as a systems analyst, retiring in 1968. After retirement, he continued as a systems analyst, working for NASA for 13 years and consulting for Cap Gemini in Vienna, VA, for a number of years. Mr. Radovich enjoyed golfing, boating, and fishing.
Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., the hour of service on Friday, August 19, 2016, in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The Rev. Dayton D. Mix will officiate.
Interment will follow at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown, Pa. with military honors accorded by the Carmichaels Honor Guard and the United States Air Force.
