Bill "Bubba" Sponaugle, 60, of Mount Morris, Pa., died unexpectedly at 2:15 A.M. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in his home. He was born May 2, 1956 in Waynesburg, Pa., a son of the late Earl "Bloxie" Sponaugle and Shirley L. (Hamilton) Drews. Bill was a graduate of Mapletown High School and resided in Greene County all of his life. He worked at the Cumberland Mine in Kirby for 28 years until his retirement. Bill was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 2300, Mount Morris Sportsman's Club and Greene County ABATE.
Surviving are two sons, Earl "Willie" Sponaugle, Jr. and his wife, Amanda, of Greensboro, Pa. and Zackary Sponaugle of Gainesville, Fla.; a daughter, Alida "Peach" Nethken of Morgantown, W. Va.; a grandson, Dustin "Dusty" Sponaugle; a brother, Robert "Boone" Sponaugle and his wife, Beth, of Mount Morris; a niece Brandy Griffin and her husband, Darel, and their daughter, Lola, of Mount Morris and his companion, Kelley Kirkendall. Deceased is a sister, M. Darlette Sponaugle Brown.
Family and friends are welcome from 3 to 6 P.M. on Saturday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa.
The funeral service will follow the visitation at 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 with the Rev. Lanfer Simpson officiating.
