Helen M. Boord, 65, of Carmichaels, Pa., died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 10, 2017, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. after a brief illness. She was born September 20, 1951, in Mt. Pleasant, Pa., a daughter of the late Russell Huffman and Phyllis (Shaw) Fisher. Helen was an active member of First Baptist Church in Carmichaels where, over the years, was a Sunday school teacher, assisted in vacation bible school and served as the president of the Women on Mission and as church treasurer. She loved the Lord and lived her life for Him. In the late 1980's, Helen volunteered for the Salvation Army and the Corner Cupboard Food Bank in Waynesburg, Pa.
On September 28, 1996, she married Kenneth A. Boord, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Jessica Kaczmarczyk of Nemacolin, Pa. and Matthew R. Myers and his longtime partner, Morgan Riley, of Nemacolin; three grandchildren, Erica Kaczmarczyk, of Crucible, Pa., Sydon Myers, of Nemacolin and Harmony Huggins of Carmichaels; a great grandchild, Nathan Kaczmarczyk, of Crucible; two sisters, Beverly Queer and her husband, Fred, of Mount Pleasant and Mary Mossburg and her husband, Keith, of Fairchance, Pa.; four step sons, James Moore of Carmichaels, Wayne Moore of Kileen, Tex., Thomas Moore of Sierra Vista, Ariz. and Milan Boord of Clarksville, Pa.; a step daughter, Christina Moore Norman of Kileen and three step grandchildren, Jennifer Matiyasic, Ernest Matiyasic, III and Maci Boord. Helen was also blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Barry W. Myers, her second husband, the Reverend Albert E. Moore; her stepdaughter, Tracy Matiyasic, and a step granddaughter, Milena Boord. She will be remembered by friends and family as a loving, kind and gentle person.
Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa.
The funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, 775 South Eighty Eight Road, Carmichaels, PA 15320 with the Rev. Charles H. Sowden officiating.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, 775 South Eighty Eight Road, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
