Robert Comba

Robert Comba, 88, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 4:00 A. M. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Washington Health System Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa. He was born June 29, 1928 in Chickasaw, Pa., a son of the late Michael and Catherine (Ozella) Comba. Bob was a 1947 graduate of Kittanning High School and served in the U. S. Army in Korea with the 1319 Headquarters and Service Company of the 62nd Engineer Construction Battalion. He worked for Eljer in Ford City, Pa. for many years before joining the carpenters union and working heavy construction in bridge building. Bob retired in the early 1990's. He was a member of the St. Marcellus Roman Catholic Church, Jefferson, Pa., the John F. Kennedy Memorial Council No. 3569 Knights of Columbus, the Sons of Italy in America, a former member of the Carmichaels Senior Center and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bob enjoyed woodworking, gardening and dancing. On December 6, 1986, he married Edna R. Ghuste, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Debra D. Shirey and her husband, Jerry, of Kittanning, Pa.; two grandchildren, Mandi Phillips and her husband, Bill, and Randi Fritz and her husband, Mike; two great grandchildren, Logan and Kamryn Fritz; two step daughters, Valerie Rabatin and her husband, Gerry, of Waynesburg, Pa. and Victoria Santucci and her husband, Mark "Guido", of Uniontown, Pa.; step grandchildren, Markayla Medlen and her husband, Jonathan and Mark "Tony" Santucci; two nieces and a nephew and several grand dogs. Deceased are his first wife, Evelyn Valjean (Mohney) Comba and a sister, Jennie A. Janosek, who died in 2016.

Family and friends are welcome from 11:00 A. M. until 3:00 P.M., the hour of a blessing service on Saturday, June 17, 2017 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. Deacon Bert Kuhns will officiate.

The Carmichaels Honor Guard will accord military honors at the funeral immediately following the blessing service.

Private interment will take place at Greene County Memorial Park.
