Helen M. Fabery Vavrinec, 96, of Apex, N. C. and formerly of Carmichaels, Pa. and Ramsey, N. J., died at 7:13 A. M. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Avendelle at Weaver Crossing, Apex. She was born April 8, 1921 in Crabtree, Westmoreland County, Pa., a daughter of the late Steve L. and Hilda C. (Keck) Fabery. Mrs. Vavrinec was raised in Leckrone, Fayette County, Pa. and graduated from German Township High School in McClellandtown, Pa. She met Frank J. Vavrinec on a blind date in the New York area and they were married on August 14, 1941. After the birth of their three children, the couple moved to Ramsey, N. J. While residing in Ramsey, Mrs. Vavrinec was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. After raising her family, she provided care giving at various health care facilities in the Ramsey area. Mrs. Vavrinec enjoyed the company of her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband, Frank, died on April 16, 2008.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Vavrinec and his wife, Mary, of Dennisport, Mass. and Ronald Vavrinec of Ramsey; a daughter, Marleen M. Sosonko and her husband, Stuart, of Leland, N. C.; four grandchildren, Vicky Faust and her husband, Christopher, Amy Bennami and her husband, Brahim, Sean Sosonko and his wife, Christine and Ashley Sosonko; three great grandchildren, Tarik Bennami, Zachary Bennami and Emmett Sosonko; a sister, Dorothy Cunningham of Carmichaels and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Joe Fabery, Bill Fabery, Bob Fabery and Steve Fabery and a sister, Rose Saunders.
Family and friends are welcome from 5 to 7 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. where a blessing service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, July 14, 2017. The Rev. John M. Bauer will officiate. Interment will follow at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
