Eugene G. Everly, 91, of Carmichaels, Pa. and a lifelong resident of Greene County, died at 10:04 P.M. on Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. He was born September 3, 1925 in Dunkard Township, Greene County, Pa., a son of the late Guy Eugene and Lillian Belle (Titus) Everly. Mr. Everly was a member of the Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Garards Fort, Pa. where he served as the treasurer for many years, a Sunday school superintendent and a trustee. He was a 1943 graduate of Mapletown High School and served with the U. S. Army, 323rd Engineer Light Equipment Company during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Everly worked on his own farm and was employed by the Carmichaels Lumber Company, Angelini Hardware in Carmichaels and Whipkey Building Supply in Jefferson, Pa. He retired in 1990 from Southside Lumber Company, Morgantown, W. Va.
Mr. Everly was a member of Valley Lodge No. 459, F. & A. M., Masontown, Pa., the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Pittsburgh, Syria Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S. and the Washington-Greene Scottish Rite Club.
On March 19, 1965, he became a member of the Carmichaels and Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Company and continued his membership until his passing. In the fire company, Mr. Everly served as a trustee for six years and as treasurer for 16 years. In addition, he was a member of the Southwestern Pa. Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs Association, the Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association and the Greene County Firemen's Association.
On September 1, 1959, Mr. Everly joined the Carmichaels Grange No. 1389 where he served as door keeper, steward and was presently serving as treasurer. In addition, he was a member of the Greene County Pomona Grange No. 63 where he was serving as treasurer, the Pennsylvania Grange and the National Grange. In 1986, he was honored as the Granger of the Year in Carmichaels and in 2016 was honored as the Pennsylvania State Granger of the Year and received the Quilt of Valor.
Mr. Everly was a charter member of the Muddy Creek Investment Club of Carmichaels, the Carmichaels Senior Center, Filer-Sadlek American Legion Post 954, Jefferson, Pa., the National Pike Steam, Gas and Horse Association, Inc. on Route 40, Brownsville, Pa. and the Fort Jackson Sons of the American Revolution.
On October 18, 1952, he married Goldie Pearl Rumble at the United Methodist parsonage in West Alexander, Pa. She passed away on November 15, 1992.
Surviving are a niece, Dr. Vicki Lynn Everly and her husband, Dr. Lee Smith, of Morgantown, W. Va.; a nephew, Kevin H. Everly and his wife, Scarlett, of Bridgeport, W. Va.; two great nieces, Jodi Hartley and Cassandra Everly; a great great niece, Prudence Hartley and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Everly of Garards Fort, Pa. Deceased are a brother, Sherdel T. Everly and a brother and sister-in-law, Gans and Tracy Rumble.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa.
A firemen's memorial service will be held at 1:00 P. M. on Friday, August 25, 2017, followed by the funeral service with the Rev. Kenneth A. Haines officiating.
Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the Carmichaels Honor Guard and the U. S. Army.
Carmichaels Grange No. 1389 will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 P. M. on Thursday in the funeral home and Valley Lodge No. 459, F. & A. M. will follow and conduct Masonic Services at 7:30 P. M.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Carmichaels Grange No. 1389 or to the Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church.
