Kenneth A. Boord

Kenneth A. Boord, 80, of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 11:25 P.M. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. He was born August 13, 1937 in California, Pa., a son of the late Jacob Norman and Bernice Editha (Ruse) Boord. Mr. Boord resided in Cumberland Township, Greene County nearly all of his life and served with the U. S. Army 101st Airborne in Korea. During his military service, he was a light weight boxer for the Army. After serving in Korea, Mr. Boord worked for Tarbuck Corporation as their superintendent in Panama and oversaw the painting of the structure of the Panama Canal. Afterward, he opened B & B Painting Company in Carmichaels and later Carmichaels Equipment Rental, both which he operated for many years.

Mr. Boord was a member, head deacon and ordained minister at the First Baptist Church in Carmichaels. He also served as commander and adjutant of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 and as a member of Cumberland American Legion Post 400.

Mr. Boord was an avid boxing and football fan and enjoyed "hot" cars. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was married to the late Alberta Morris and to Rosemarie Kostial, who survives in Clarksville, Pa. On September 28, 1996, he married Helen Marie Huffman Myers Moore, who died June 10, 2017.

Surviving are a son, Milan J. Boord of Clarksville; a step son, Matthew R. Myers and his partner, Morgan Riley of Nemacolin, Pa.; a step daughter, Jessica L. Kaczmarczyk of Nemacolin; six grandchildren, Maci L. Boord, Jennifer Matiyasic, Ernest Matiyasic, III, Erica Kaczmarczyk, Sydon Myers and Harmony Huggins; a great grandson, Nathan Edward Kaczmarczyk and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a daughter, Tracy Matiyasic; a granddaughter, Milena M. Boord; four brothers, Harold V. Boord, Raymond Lloyd Boord, Arleigh F. Boord and D. Paul Boord and two sisters, Martha Pushey Chambola and Alberta Horner.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. Additional visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M., the hour of service on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the First Baptist Church, 775 South Eighty Eight Road, Carmichaels, Pa. Pastor Chuck Sowden will officiate.

Interment will follow at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels with military honors accorded by the Carmichaels Honor Guard and the U. S. Army.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, 775 South Eighty Eight Road, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
