Martha L. Hill, 82, of Greensboro, Pa., died at 4:26 P.M. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born August 29, 1935 in Dunkard Township, Greene County, Pa., a daughter of the late Harry A. and Margaret R. (Downey) Hill. Martha was a 1955 graduate of Mapletown High School and resided most of her life in the Greensboro area and all of her life in Greene County. She worked as a cook at Rohanna's Golf Course for 10 years before working for 15 years as a cook at the West Virginia University Hospital and then as a cook and cashier for 20 years at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W. Va. After her retirement, Martha worked as a home health aide in the local area.
Martha was a faithful member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess, a leader for the Baptist Fellowship Youth and as a youth Sunday school teacher. In addition, she was a delegate to the Ten Mile Baptist Association and, at Sugar Grove Baptist, headed up the breakfast meals and served as a clown for the puppet ministry. Martha was a member of the True Blue Sunday school class and always enjoyed helping her neighbors. She won many ribbons for her house plants, baked goods, canned goods and crafts at the Greene County Fair and was an animal lover.
Surviving are her brother, Rev. Harry A. Hill and his wife, Patty, of Greensboro; three sisters, Nettie E. Hill, with whom she made her home, Florence Lynn of Smithton Pa. and Dorothy Koast of Fairchance, Pa. and several loved nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, Ross J. Hill, Sr.; a sister, Catherine Kuhn; two nephews, Ross Hill, Jr. and Nathan Hill; a niece, Debbie Lynn and two great nieces.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 with Pastor Frank Vucic officiating.
Interment will follow at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Sugar Grove Baptist Church.
