Casey Lynn Olszewski, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Carmichaels, joined her heavenly family on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the age of 38. Born on January 27, 1987, in Morgantown, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Edmund Joseph Olszewski and Kathy Ann (Smalsky) Olszewski, who survives.
Casey was a graduate of Carmichaels Area High School, Class of 2005. She went on to further her education at Duquesne University, earning her bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2009. She worked for ten years at Cross Lanes Elementary in Charleston, West Virginia, followed by two years at North Elementary in Morgantown. Casey was in the process of obtaining her master’s degree in education online through Marshall University. She had a passion for teaching, caring deeply for each and every one of her students.
Beyond the classroom, Casey had a deep love for her niece, Olivia, and they enjoyed sharing adventures together. She had a love of traveling and enjoyed everything from cruising to a weekend closer to home at her favorite West Virginia resort. She loved to let anyone else do the driving while she controlled the music and the snacks! She was a cat lover, with a very special place in her heart reserved for her own faithful feline companion, Lucy Lynn. Casey had an admirable optimism about her, always seeing the good in everyone. Her kind heart will surely be missed.
Left to cherish her memory, in addition to her mother, is her fiancé, Richard Dorino Marks of Pittsburgh; sister, Krista Young of Spring Valley, Ca.; niece, Olivia Young; uncle, Charles Olszewski (Kathy); aunt, Barbara Gump; and several cousins.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank and Betty Olszewski, and Edward and Helen Smalsky, and uncles, Allen Olszewski, Frank Olszewski, Jr., and Jesse Gump, Jr.
A memorial gathering will take place from 3:30 to 5:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Yoskovich Funeral Home, Inc. in Carmichaels, where a blessing service will be held at 5:30 P.M. with Rev. Thomas Lewandowski as celebrant.
