Charles E. Wallace's Blessing Service

Charles E. Wallace, 75, of Bobtown, Pa., passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 in his home. He was born June 24, 1945 in Waynesburg, Pa., a son of the late John and Paula E. (Bruce) Wallace. Chuck was a 1963 graduate of Mapletown High School where he lettered in baseball and basketball and football. He also attended Fairmont State College. Chuck was a member of the St. Matthias Parish, Bobtown, Los Angeles Iron Workers Local 433, the Bobtown Polish American Citizens Club and the Bobtown Rod and Gun Club. He served an iron workers apprenticeship for three years in Los Angeles, Cal. and worked construction projects in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City until returning to Greene County in 1985. Chuck then worked under the Iron Workers Union in Pittsburgh, Pa. and Wooster, Mass. He served as a volunteer and counselor at Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh for intercity amputee children. Chuck played and coached softball for the Greene County League and enjoyed hunting and fishing in Greene County. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and never knew a stranger.
Surviving are two sisters, Carol A. DeBerry of Charlotte, N. C. and Nancy E. Batis (Stan) of Carmichaels, Pa.; five nephews, Stan Apanowicz and Gregory Apanowicz (Amanda), both of Fairmont, John Michael Wallace (Kris) of St. Paul, Minn., Kristofer DeBerry (Jennifer) of Charlotte and Adam M. DeBerry (Stephanie) of Wilmington, N. C.; three nieces, Kara Wallace of Colorado, Nicole Spinks (Chris) of Charlotte and Bethany Simon of Pittsburgh; two aunts, Gloria Smitley and Melva Bruce and 14 great nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, John B. Wallace and a sister, Linda S. Apanowicz.
The family acknowledges the wonderful care and compassion extended by the staff of Amedisys Hospice to Chuck during his recent illness.
Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 7:30 PM, the time of a blessing service on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The Rev. J. Francis Frazer will officiate.
Per CDC guidelines, social distancing and face masks will be required.
A committal service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Point Marion Endowed Cemetery, Point Marion, Pa.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
