David M. Reid

David M. Reid, 74 of Carmichaels, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 3, 2025 at UPMC Greene, Waynesburg, Pa.  He was born December 3, 1950 in Waynesburg, a son of the late James D. and Doris J. (Roberts) Reid.  David was a 1969 graduate of Mapletown High School.  After high school, he served with the U. S. Army as a military policeman in the airborne unit during Vietnam.  He later served in the Army Reserve.  He began working at the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine and on November 17, 1977, became an assistant mine foreman.  David last worked for R. G. Johnson in coal mine construction.David was ordained a deacon at the John Corbly Memorial Baptist on February 14, 2016 and on January 28, 2024, he was ordained a minister in the Baptist Church.  He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, volunteered as a certified emergency medical technician for many years and was community oriented.  David was a loving and generous person and cherished his family.  On October 9, 1992, he married Marlene K. Chambers, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, James David Reid (Candace) of Colorado; two daughters, Meredith Sertich (Isaac) of Windsor Heights, W. Va. and Sarah Reid (Michael) of Clarksville, Pa.; two grandchildren, Stella Knight and Weston Knight; a sister, Sharon Brewer (Tim) of Garards Fort, Pa.; several nieces and nephews and special friends, April and Keith Bowser and Frank Denny.

Family and friends are welcome from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home,  Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.  Pastor Gary Whipkey will officiate.

Interment will follow at Garards Fort Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Greene County Honor Guard and the U. S. Army.
