Edward J. Gluvna, 74, of Greensboro, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 in his home. He was born August 11, 1950 in Waynesburg, Pa., a son of the late Joseph P. and Mary C. (Centrich) Gluvna. Ed was a 1968 graduate of Mapletown High School and received his teaching degree at California University. He had attended the former Holy Family Catholic Church in Greensboro and was a member of the St. Matthias Parish in Bobtown, Pa. Ed worked as a paramedic for Mon EMS in Morgantown, W. Va., the former EMS Southwest and with his membership at the Greensboro-Mononghela Township Volunteer Fire Company. He worked as a special education teacher for Intermediate Unit 1 until his retirement after 35 years. After retirement, Ed drove school bus for First Student for a few years. He enjoyed building Legos. On May 7, 1977, he married Pamela J. Bigelow, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Nicholas J. Gluvna of Longmont, Col.; four grandchildren, Moira, David, Tasha and Timothy Gluvna; three brothers, Frank M. Gluvna (Renee) of Sarasota, Fla., George S. Gluvna (Barbara) of Northridge, Cal. and William M. Gluvna of Greensboro; a sister, Mary Joe Ryan (James) of Lombard, Ill., several nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Tracey Leef of Frederick, Md. and Dee Gluvna of Hershey, Pa. Deceased are two brothers, Joseph P. Gluvna and James P. Gluvna.
There will be no public viewing and a time to celebrate Ed's life will be announced in the Spring.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Greensboro-Monongahela Township Volunteer Fire Company.
